


No, QuarkXPress is not the first program professional web designers think of when looking
for a new site building tool. But it does do HTML and CSS. And, lumping QuarkXPress’s HTML export in with the
infamously poor code of Microsoft Word or FrontPage is a mistake.
In fact, Quark’s HTML export is usable; it isn’t clean, standards-compliant code that a pro would create in DreamWeaver or GoLive, but it’s not bad. When you’re a print designer without a great deal of web skill and a print layout that needs to be mirrored online, Quark just might be exactly what you need.
In this Mac Design Magazine tutorial by Angus McKelvey Quark 4 is used to create websites on Mac Classic, but the concept and tools are current through versions 5 and 6.
