Get Into An iPod Ad With Podapic

Jan 17, 2005, 11:48 AM ET

From our friends over at TUAW, the (Unofficial) Apple Weblog comes a tip that you too could be in an iPod ad.

YOU in an iPOD ad - Podapic.com design-05-01-17-podapicPodapic (pod-a-pic) will happily turn any digital photo of you or a family member into an iPod-styled ad. For US$3.99, in three days your photo could be an iPod ad in vibrant iPod campaign colors green, blue, orange, pink, or purple. Or go wild and get one picture in all five colors for only $6.99.

Not since the Wendy’s “Where’s The Beef” campaign in the Eighties has pop culture embraced advertising the way it has the iPod campaign. Granted, the iPod is cool, Apple is a lovemark, and the ads, which feauture stark white iPod MP3 players and their distinctive headphones worn by silhouetted figures dancing to their music, are absolutely brilliant ad strategy. Still, the pop culture reaction has been remarkable.

What do you think? Why have iPod commercials been so highly regarded by consumers, even to the point of wanting to be in mockups of them?
